Dual Link
For KONA 2, AJA brings our industry leading Dual Link experience to the
MAC. Supporting the highest quality possible with SDI video, KONA 2 features
both 10 and 12 bit 4:4:4 Dual Link HD-SDI. Dual Link is just now starting
to be used in the high-end production industry?and the video quality is
stunning.
AJA has been shipping Dual Link HD PCI cards to OEM partners for over
a year. These products are field-proven and have been used on many high
profile productions and D-Cinema projects.
Awesome Audio
KONA 2’s extensive audio support makes installation easier than ever.
KONA 2 supports 8 channel AES audio via either XLR or BNC connections,
or embedded audio. KONA 2 also features AES input sample rate conversion;
this feature eliminates the requirement for audio source synchronization?and
you will never hear a click or pop.
Analog Video Output Versatility
Kona 2 provides a 12 bit HD or SD component analog video output. In the
SD mode, the analog output can be switched to Composite NTSC/PAL or S-Video.
The analog video output is independently assignable?for example, when
working with HD, the analog output can be switched to the downconverter,
allowing for broadcast quality SD component or composite video output
from HD material.
Flexible I/O Options
KONA 2 offers unsurpassed cable connectivity for a video/audio capture
card. Two versions of the breakout cable are provided: one with XLR AES
connections, and one with BNC AES connections. Simply plug in the desired
cable?they automatically configure. For SDI video, the breakout cables
have 2 HD/SD BNC Ins and 2 Outs for single or dual link, 1 BNC for Genlock
input, and 3 BNCs for HD/SD component analog video out. Also included
is a 9 pin D connector for RS-422 machine control.
Since the ultimate capture card needs the ultimate breakout box, we also
offer the optional K-Box.
K-Box is a rugged 1 RU enclosure which mounts all of KONA 2’s I/O connections
in a convenient “break-out” styled box. Both reliable and convenient,
K-Box can be rack-mounted or used on a desktop. K-Box also has additional
features, as compared to the standard break-out cables:simultanous XLR
and BNC AES output, 2 channel RCA analog audio monitoring, and looping
BNC Genlock reference connectors.
Qrez™ 4:1 Hardware Codec
AJA now offers an additional choice for video compression?Qrez. Qrez
is a high-quality hardware based codec that offers a 4:1 compression ratio.
Because it’s all in KONA 2’s hardware, there is no processing load on
the CPU and no latency. Qrez is useful for offline and online broadcast
production.
DVCProHD Hardware Acceleration
Final Cut Pro Users will love KONA 2’s DVCProHD hardware acceleration.
Developed in close cooperation with Apple, KONA 2’s hardware takes a portion
of the DVCProHD codec processing load off the CPU, allowing more Real
Time effects in Final Cut Pro HD when outputting to HD-SDI. KONA 2 also
has hardware support when capturing from HD-SDI to the DVCProHD codec.
KONA 2 along with Final Cut Pro HD and the DVCProHD codec bring amazing
Real Time HD production power to the desktop.
Broadcast-Quality Conversion? Built-in!
Direct from AJA’s converter division, KONA 2 features full 10 bit Broadcast
quality motion adaptive SD to HD up-conversion, HD to SD down conversion,
and automatic HD/SD 12 bit component analog output. These features are
virtually identical to AJA’s award winning stand-alone products that sell
for much more than KONA 2. Also, because these functions are hardware
based, they are available full time, all the time?with no CPU load.
